At the heart of Ante is extensive data powered by Vigilant which includes over 300 million individual campaign contribution records. Vigilant’s data brings together records from hundreds of databases at all levels of government including the FEC, all 50 states, and a growing list of local cities and counties. With searches being run in real-time and taking just seconds, Ante provides efficient access to the largest and most comprehensive collection of campaign finance data ever made available in one place. No other political fundraising research tool can match the size and scope of Ante’s data access.
Resources like the FEC and OpenSecrets currently only provide access to data for federal-level campaigns, while Ante provides access to hundreds of millions of additional records from the hundreds of state, county and city databases that exist across the country. Searching at these local levels is the only way to find contributions to candidates for state-level offices like Governor or State Attorneys General, or for municipal offices like Mayor or City Council.
Likewise, Follow the Money is a great public tool, but it provides much more limited data, and it is updated less frequently. Ante has over 200 million more records than Follow the Money, and is updated daily.
In addition to the more extensive data available on Ante, our tool also has an extensive set of search fields and filters that give teams the ability to research political contributors by region, amount, date, and the candidates or committees they give to.
Our service lets you search through contribution data updated daily. You can use Ante to search and filter by attributes such as donor location, contribution amount, donation recipient, employer, occupation, and recipient jurisdiction. Using Ante, research tasks that previously could have taken hours or even days can now be completed in a few seconds.
With some sources, certain data points are not available on Ante because they are not reported by the primary source. For example, some states do not require donors to disclose their employers. However, whenever a field is available at the source, you can trust that the information will be made available on Ante.
Access to available fields may also depend on your plan tier. Please see our pricing page for more information.
Ante’s data is updated daily, and includes the most comprehensive contribution data available anywhere.
If you’re interested in the Starter account, you’ll have free access to 10 searches by contributor name, with a limited number of contribution results. If you’re interested in additional searches, full results, or more complex queries you’ll need to upgrade to a Researcher, Data Analyst, or Data Analyst Pro plan.
Absolutely. Exports are available on the Data Analyst and Data Analyst Pro plans.
It depends on what data you’re using, but you must comply with all laws regarding the use of political contribution data. The Federal Election Commission prohibits the use of contributor information from reports filed with the FEC for the purpose of soliciting contributions or for any commercial purpose.
Ante includes data from the FEC, as well as hundreds of other data sources. You can disable the FEC as part of any search.
